Catch Them Young (CTY)
The initiative ‘Catch Them Young’ in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata aimed to promote entrepreneurship as a career choice in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. Networking meet, Idea workshops, Business skill development, Idea contest, B-plan tutorials and Boot camp are some of the key elements of this programme.
During the project we partnered with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Incubation Lab (ABVIL) from Ranchi and Work Studio Co working from Patna partnered to coordinate the process of selecting Campus Ambassadors and participants. The idea contest was launched on June 01, 2019 where the students were encouraged to submit their business plans during this phase.
Top 50 applicants, including 11 women, were shortlisted for the Catch Them Young boot camp. The boot camp, organized from September 13-15, 2019 at the Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata was attended by 47 participants, including 10 women, from West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. The business ideas covered sectors of automation, tech-enabled services, healthcare, waste management, plastic recycling and other services. 12 ideas were selected for the grand finale which was held on September 16, 2019 at the American Center, Kolkata. The jury panel chose three ideas – Most Innovative Idea was an automatic grass cutter machine, Most Promising Idea was bricks made from plastic waste, and Most Impactful Idea was a diagnostic strip for early detection of Alzheimer’s and diabetes.
Campus Ambassador (CA)
The Campus Ambassador (CA) campaign, a part of the Catch Them Young initiative identified 52 motivated college students in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand who led the initiative “Catch Them Young” in their respective institutes.
The Campus Ambassadors underwent an Online Training program by industry experts on various facets of entrepreneurship. All the Campus Ambassadors were certified for their hardwork and two of them were awarded the certificate of excellence.
Catch Them Young Idea Contest
The idea contest was launched on June 01, 2019 and went on till August 11, 2019. Participants were encouraged to submit their business plans during this phase. Idea generation workshops were conducted in various colleges and institutions with the help of the departments and EDCs. More than 100 business plans were received from students across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
